'The Ancient Civilization' Turns 2!
Two years ago, we all together created the film series 'The Ancient Civilization', and on this very day — January 17 — the first film was completed.
Since then, much water has flowed, many days and months have passed, and three full-length historical films have appeared, which we presented together in nearly 100 screenings in 28 settlements in Bulgaria and abroad.
We realized that when we are united as a nation, as Bulgarians, and care about our ancient history, we can achieve a lot. Fundamental undiscovered moments from the ancient history of our lands came to light. Literally like a meteor — with nothing stopping us. We discovered that the culture and civilization of the Balkans are very ancient, that there were settlements and entire megalopolises here from the end of the 7th and beginning of the 6th millennium. We learned about a rich cultural-historical heritage, left to the mercy of time, people, and the elements. With wonder, we established that it was precisely here that the horse was first domesticated in Europe and the Balkans. We proved all of this!
Archaeologists, academics, researchers, museum workers, ethnographers, librarians, local historians, specialists, patriots, and many other people participated.
The local help was invaluable, and the people — with big hearts! We screened, just as our Revival-era predecessors did — in community centers and libraries. Municipalities also helped, we participated in festivals across Bulgaria, for which we thank the organizers.
Much more lies ahead! More screenings and entire cinema tours, filming abroad and presentations in other countries.
All of this would not have been possible without all of us, united as a nation.
Come to the screenings, help with the organization, contribute — whoever can, however they can — and we will achieve much more. Above all, believe — faith makes everything possible.
Thank you, Bulgarians!
