‘The Ancient Civilization’ visits the Elite Language High School in Burgas
At the invitation of the elite English Language High School ‘Geo Milev’ in Burgas, the film ‘The Jade Rulers’ — the first in the Ancient Civilization series — was screened for students.
The eager students from 9th, 10th, and 11th grade had the opportunity to learn about one of the oldest cultures on our lands, predating the Varna Chalcolithic Necropolis, the settlements near Yunatsite and Provadia Solnitsata. They learned not only about the structure of dwellings, agriculture, animal husbandry, crafts, mineral processing, religion, customs, visual art and sculpture, but also about the first rulers of the Balkans and Europe with their attested insignia of power, and much more...
We saw the spark in the eyes of many of the students, we saw their interest and thirst for knowledge. Children are very smart and alert, and they need to be told and shown, to have the spark of history ignited within them so that it may grow into a flame, because they are our future.
We thank the school management and class teachers of the English Language High School ‘Geo Milev’ and hope to bring knowledge to them again at future film screenings.
